Introduction

The International Middle Years Programme 2 – English syllabus has been devised in accordance with Cambridge Lower Secondary and builds on the skills and competencies of IMYP1, providing an excellent preparation for further studies to IGCSE.

The Cambridge Lower Secondary English Curriculum Framework promotes an enquiry-based approach to learning to develop learners’ confidence, creativity and intellectual engagement. It is designed for learners who have English as a first language and can be used in any cultural context.

Structure of the Course:

• IMYP2 English is designed over 4 x 10 week terms.
• There is one submission requirement each week.
• Formative assessments are held in Week 5 of the first and third terms.
• Summative assessments are held at the end of every term.

Learning Resources:

• The core textbook is “Complete English for Cambridge Secondary: Grade 9”.
• Other resources are included to make the course more fluid and dynamic.
