International GCSE Physics helps learners to understand the technological world in which they live, and take an informed interest in science and scientific developments. The syllabus includes the basic principles and concepts that are fundamental to the subject, some current applications of physics, and a strong emphasis on practical skills.

How Are Candidates Assessed?

All TAO candidates take three papers. 

Candidates who have studied the Core subject content, or who are expected to achieve a grade D or below, should be entered for Paper 1 (Multiple Choice 45 mins), Paper 3 (Theory 1 hour 15 mins) and Paper 6 (Alternative to Practical 1 hour). These candidates will be eligible for grades C to G. 

Candidates who have studied the Extended subject content (Core and Supplement), and who are expected to achieve a grade C or above, should be entered for Paper 2  (Multiple Choice 45 mins), Paper 4 (Theory 1 hour 15 mins) and Paper 6 (Alternative to Practical 1 hour). These candidates will be eligible for grades A* to G

Learners also develop an understanding of the scientific skills essential for progression to International AS & A Level, further education or a career related to science.
